Ilona Furrokh Blackbird parenthood
I seemed to spend a lot of the ‘lockdown’ observing the garden and our thriving bird population; breeding and rearing their chicks. In particular, one male blackbird, which must have lost his mate, was a devoted dad and reared 4 chicks very successfully to adulthood……..despite our Cat! My piece represents the ‘passing of time/cycle of life’ with egg, chick and adult blackbird, plus a nod to the changing seasons with leaves moving from young bright green ones to older autumnal colours.

The Process:
Copper gas pipe:
A section of the pipe was cut off to make the stand and the remaining pipe sawed to open up to a flat rectangle for the background.
