Apply and fire a coat of flux. If it seems a bit thin give it a second coat.

Counter enamel the piece.

Rub the fired flux down until you have a completely matt surface. This will help prevent air bubbles lurking under the foil and making ‘craters’ when it is fired onto the flux.
