Lesley Miller

We met at Chris Sharville’s workshop in Horley, Sussex on a cold, wet and windy day.

Linda Connelly started the workshop by giving us a demonstration of how to etch silver or copper using the system from Penny Gildea’s tutorial at the last Conference (see article in Autumn 2008 Journal). She first showed us how to use Fablon as a resist, further refining the design with a fine nail varnish applicator.

Then she took us through the process of preparing a design and photocopying it onto PNP paper (see article in the Autumn 2007 Journal). This method is very useful for more complicated patterns and repeat objects. She suggested how to make use of a smaller section of PNP paper by taping it, shiny side down, to a sheet of A4 copier paper. Check the position of the area you want to copy by marking a small cross on the bottom right hand corner of a sheet of paper before copying and then noting where it appears in relation to the image you want to copy, and then have the toner adjusted to maximum.
