To hold a bead steady while working on it:
Take a length of nichrome wire* and bend it in two. Pinch the loop end tight and thread it through the bead. Pull the wire apart at the loop end, slide the bead down onto this and pull the wires at the other end apart so that the bead is held firmly on the wire.
