Apply your design to the front of the piece to be etched, using any resist. Make sure the resist is well attached and covers all necessary areas.

  1. Take a spare piece of electric wire (length immaterial), strip both ends by about 1.5cm. Clean one end of any remaining traces of plastic or grease and flatten it with a hammer or a file.

  2. Clean and degrease the back of the piece you intend to etch, then fasten the flattened copper wire to it with a bit of gaffer or insulating tape. { Some authorities recommend soldering it on. but it works perfectly well if the wire is well stuck down to make a good contact.) Alternatively, leave a long tab on the piece to be etched, protect it with tape and cut it off afterwards.
