Gillian's mother sold antiques, so she grew up seeing lots of Art Deco and Art Nouveau enamels. Her interest in enamelling was sparked by the gift of a little Horner pendant and that led to her enrolling, about 6 years ago, in one of Elizabeth Turrell’s courses in Queen's Road, Bristol.

Writing about her work, she says, "My designs over the last few years have been derived from aerial photographs, which lend themselves to interesting use of enamelling techniques.
