In the autumn journal for 2002, I noticed three references to bead making, which suggested a significant interest in the subject.

Recently I have been duplicating the work so clearly and humorously described by William A. Kappele in 'Glass on Metal', vol.14, no.l, Feb.1995.

By following the procedures outline by Mr Kappele, it is possible to make fine beads and have a lot of fun in the process.

Initially, I ran into a few difficulties. Good bead making enamel in the form described is difficult to come by, but once I had tried W&G Ball's crushed mixed enamel, this problem was solved. It fuses easily in a butane gas torch flame and the colours are quite superb.
