Thompson Unleaded Enamel Tests
Diane Montag, Joan Schaifer and Tom Ellis of the US Enamel Guild West
Diane Montag of the US Enamel Guild West, has instigated a mammoth series of tests on unleaded Thompson Enamels, assisted by her colleagues, Joan Schaifer and Tom Ellis. The first batch of findings were published in a recent edition of Enamel Guild West's magazine, "The Vitreous Voice".
For the tests, they used 3/4" x 1" copper samples, sifting with 200 mesh fairly heavy coats of enamel; later 80 mesh was used with good results. Three colour samples were fired at one time, each group being numbered (eg. 1010, 1020, & 1030). Most samples had two coats of the colour, but a few had one coat. Diane was assisted in this huge task by colleagues Joan Schaifer and Tom Ellis, also members of the E.G.W.
The following tests were on Thompson unleaded opaques.
