Controlled Swirling – Workshop with Hazel Ovenden
Betty Butler
On July 11th, Hazel passed on to us her secrets for achieving a very decorative floral effect with controlled swirling. We were instructed to bring copper blanks with a base coat of silver flux.
Firstly Hazel sieved on several transparents thinly and in a random pattern to give a varied background (she used earth grey, olive, pewter, and a dark green with a very small sieve of about 1cm in diameter). FIRST FIRING.
