Effective Low-Tech Pressforming
Kathleen Kay
Members who attended the Guild's '95 Conference at York, and drooled over the exciting exhibits, will probably remember a beautiful, formed, golden fish; its rounded body was created using a low-tech method of pressforming. The fins and tail of the fish were designed and cut from the remaining flat copper surrounding the pressed body shape. The piece was enamelled in transparent amber and coral, over foils and oxides, with a little wire to feature the gills. The fish was the combined creation of Bonnie Mackintosh - who needs no introduction to Guild members - and her friend and colleague, recent member Louise O'Neill.
