It’s always exciting to discover a really new enamelling product but I didn’t have time at last year’s conference to discuss these enamels with David, beyond establishing that they were actual enamel so could be applied and fired onto bare metal.

This makes them quite different from the oil-based lustres used in china painting or Thompson’s safety lustres which require conventional enamels under them and adhere only where the particles actually touch it, with the excess brushing off. Milton Bridge’s new range contains glass and so fuses to metal as other enamels do.
