Richard Casey's Tutorial - Guildford Conference 1996
Linda Connelly
Those of us who attended Richard Casey's tutorial at the Conference, were fortunate to be treated to a wonderfully enlightening day.
People like me who normally work with painstaking accuracy on precious metal, were astounded at the radically different and, above all, quick methods of working. The morning took the form of Richard demonstrating a variety of techniques. In the afternoon we had the opportunity to experiment for ourselves. For myself, it was the first time I have finished anything during a Conference tutorial.
Portraits
Begin with a tile enamelled in hard white. A flux over the top helps to soften the eventual outline. Ensure the enamelled surface is flat and thoroughly clean. Spit is good for this.
