I had the pleasure to attend the AGM in York and participated in Penny Gildea's tutorial. We had a very busy time of it as it was rather difficult to attempt to instil into five beginners the rudiments of engraving in just a few hours.

Penny was well organised and soon had us kitted out with the basic necessities, table, lamp, sandbag, woodblock, tools, copper plate, etc.

She very wisely kept the theory to the minimum at the start, and began a demonstration of the various methods of transferring a design onto the copper, and a run-down on the use of the selection of gravers at hand, to allow us to get started during the morning session.
