Enamel Screen Printing
TO SCREEN OR NOT TO SCREEN? THAT IS THE QUESTION
(to paraphrase the bard)
JOANN TANZER
But why screen at all? That is the real question. I must respond to this by stating that the screen allows the art enameller another way of developing images, textures and patterns. Colours fall onto prepared metal surfaces through the screen image. The potential of this technique is unlimited. It can be used to bring precision to imagery, to enrich the surface, to repeat a given form in multiples. It can have an open, loose approach and can be changed in a myriad of ways. I urge the enamellist to try the screening process and become aware of how to incorporate the technique into one's own concepts.
