It is now some five years since Bonnie wrote her excellent series "In the Beginning" and we have many new members who might appreciate more information on the fundamentals of enamelling. This is the first of a series, intended for beginners working on their own. But which may include some useful hints for others, particularly in the first few parts, those who demonstrate and encourage the general public to have a go.
PART I – A SIMPLE SIFTED FIRST PIECE
The first thing to remember is that it only needs a little bit of care for anyone to make a successful piece. Have fun choosing a copper blank and its colouring: initially one of the small animal shapes and any opaque enamel will be ideal. Here is a simple 10-point guide line for embellishing copper by sprinkling powdered enamel.
