The first came from a conference account by Hazel Ovenden in the Summer 1992 issue of the journal. Sue Hennings had demonstrated simple findings for brooches. She made a catch from a 3mm wide strip of silver bent into a shepherd’s crook shape and laid on its back.

Hinges were made with a piece of tube (2mm outside diameter) flattened a bit on one side and soldered* onto square wire of the same width and length. A 10cm length could then be sawn into about 3 hinges.
