The list was fascinating! Wood, rope, 'found objects', nails, glue and of course, enamels. What were we going to do? We arrived expectantly- this was something we had not experienced before! After the introductions, Mikhail’s book purchased and signed, and quickly perused, we started on our sketches.
The piece of wood was our starting point-looking at the grain, shape and feel. Together with our found objects we began to put together a plan. Jeanne definitely had the best collection! Ideas were shared with Mikhail and with each other. Ellen chose a "circus without animals" theme trying to emulate the atmosphere, using shells; she wanted it to be a "bit empty". Ideas were varied and fascinating; we were obviously here to experiment.
