Over the years, several of my adult students at Wolverhampton College have enjoyed using foil to make 3D enamelled flowers and leaves. These were either mounted as an elaborate floral collage, on a fabric background, or used as a raised feature on a large mosaic enamelled panel. The simplest forms were produced quite quickly but some of the panels were amazingly intricate, following flower designs found on greetings cards etc.. Success relied on careful drawing and cutting out of the shapes. Following a well-cut shape, the repoussé relief forming and the enamelling seemed to go smoothly but with a badly designed and cut out shape nothing seemed to improve it at all.

The WAGS group are having a meeting working on foil flowers in the summer, and it occurred to me that Guild members working at home could find some of these drawings useful. You are welcome to photocopy. enlarge or reduce any of these drawings for your own use. I have included the simpler, most successful favourites, originally drawn some years ago, the outline shapes taken from real flowers and leaves from our garden.
