Idea for Making Stilts

Have you ever had a piece of enamel ready for firing, to find you haven't got a stilt that will take it? Then you fiddle around trying to fit it on something, only to spill the enamel, or damage it?
Of course, the books always tell us to find a stilt to fit before preparing the work, but it is sometimes the case that there just isn't a stilt that will do.
