  • Description of your entry: Every night as the sunset, the starlings put on an unforgettable show over the deserted skeleton of West pier, Brighton beach. As they dance and weave patterns in the sky this must rival any show on any stage. Every night is a different show with the sky and sea a never ending variety of a kaleidoscope of colours. The effects are mesmerising, dramatic and beautiful. I began with painting numerous tiny sketches of the effects I wanted to achieve. I used gravers to carve patterns in the silver for the sea, sky and for the outline of the pier itself. The starlings are cloisonné.
