The Guild of Enamellers is making May 2012 Enamelling Month. If you have ever wondered what enamel is then now is your chance to find out, with members around the country hosting demonstrations and running various classes.

On 12th May Jill Leventon is running a workshop at Westhope College, Craven Arms, Shropshire titled Beyond the Basics. This course is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience. Knowledge of basic decorative techniques will be expanded, as well as exploring more advanced methods for those who wish to, booking is through Westhope College www.westhope.org.uk   On 19th May she will be holding a workshop at English Bridge Workshops, Shrewsbury for those with a little experience of enamelling (ie not complete beginners). In the south east, the Guilds regional meeting on 13th May will be an open meeting so visitors can drop in and watch demonstrations of the enamelling process. This will be held at BP Hall, St Barnabas Church Hall, 69 Higher Drive, Purley, Surrey CR8 2HR.  Also in the south east Joy Funnell runs classes in enamelling on art clay silver. She has developed an innovative technique for creating enamelled accents using fine silver wires raised on the silver surface. Her classes are by arrangement, she is based in Hastings, East Sussex. On 21st May Tilly Wilkinson will be running a one day class: Stencilling Nature into Enamel, a "Quirky Workshop" at Greystoke near Penrith. These are popular classes in a stunning location.
