Pond oxygenating plants. Five sectioned blue saw and solder champlevé necklace

  • Description of your entry: A five sectioned saw and soldered champlevé and basse taille necklace in blues and turquoise with gold foil “leaves” and cloisonné surrounding fine silver foil “bubbles”. The neck piece is finished with silver wires, a handmade clasp and jump rings and set with a buff-top facetted Swiss topaz. The piece was depletion gilded using concentrated nitric acid after texturing the base of the wells with a setting burr. The wet inlay technique was used to apply ground and washed enamels: Blythe BJG C1 gold flux, Schauer SJW 154 dark blue, Schauer SJE 156 medium blue, Schauer SJE 171 Turquoise, Milton Bridge T215 Crystal blue and SOJE 3 Finish silver flux. The pieces were stoned back using Electroflex diamond grit pads and given a final firing to glaze the enamel. The back of each piece was textured using a fine ball burr.
