Hummingbird ‘Hope’ necklace

  • Exhibition: General Exhibition 2024
  • Description of your entry: Inspiration and background:-
I am inspired by nature and the animal kingdom and have been wanting to highlight the plight of endangered species.
Coming across the hummingbird in previous design work and being interested in Native American Indian spirit animals, I realised that it’s ‘medicine’ is that of - if you follow your dreams you get to taste the elixir of life. It is never too late to follow your dreams and bring joy into your life.
This is a necklace of hope and positivity.
The speckles of dirt around represent those obstacles and tough times you have overcome and the hummingbird the dreams you are following and the joy you are bringing into your life.
The piece is made of silver including the chain, clasp and feather drop. In addition to this there are various gemstones (tourmaline, ruby and moonstone) added for their healing properties and to highlight colour in the painting as well as to centre the piece on the chain.
