River Flora

  • Exhibition: General Exhibition 2024
  • Description of your entry: The pendant is a hand pierced piece of silver, that was acid etched with a hand drawn design depicting flowers, cross hatching, and dots. Leaves were created using a rolling mill, and silk leaf to impress into the silver, and hand pierced. The water lily was created by heating a pierced shape to give it the crumpled texture and the two waterlilies were pressed out using a disc cutter - one in fine silver, one in sterling silver which create different colours with the same enamel. (Light rose enamel used directly on the silver, to obtain the bright light yellow). If I made the piece again I would use a kingfisher blue, rather than pale aqua - however I wanted the etching under the enamel to be 'glimpsed' like in a real pond and I believe this is helped (possibly) by the paler colour.
