  • Description of your entry: This piece was inspired by how during the beginning of the pandemic, I felt inadequate to help. Medical personnel were necessary. Being an artist felt like a frivolous occupation. Over time, though, I realized that every occupation and every person had a purpose.

The eye on the heart talks about clearly seeing what the heart wants to say. The flame above the heart is a reminder to share your gift with courage and to let it burn bright. The heart is worn but is still strong. The hands are the offering of the gift. And, finally the backplate holds a few symbols of various jobs people perform. All necessary, all valid, and most of all, all greatly appreciated. Everyone offers a contribution to the fabric of the whole.
