Mark Making in Enamelling
A Conference Workshop with Ruth Ball
In this workshop we worked almost entirely in monochrome, using black and white pre-enamelled steel shapes (from Milton Bridge and WG Ball) or vitreous enamelled magnetic white board (from Sundeala). We mostly used Ball’s black and white liquid enamels. Ruth explained that using and producing beautiful colours is often a primary concern for enamellers, but that paring back to black and white can aid focusing on the process of mark making and design and their evaluation.
