When invited to write an article I decided to focus on the enamelling aspect of my work and also to ‘spread the wonderful news’ about the continued growth of enamelling enthusiasts in the UK and abroad.
I too, took up the Art of enamelling because I had been inspired by someone else’s work. While studying at the Sir John Cass, London I was fortunate enough to join a class by the exceptional Enamellist Joan Mackarell, who not only taught me the traditional enamelling techniques but also encouraged me to experiment. By knowledgeable manipulation of all elements, like material, design and techniques there is indeed a limitless field of personal expression open to the artist.
