Gillie began by explaining how she had developed this technique after seeing ceramic ware being sponge decorated and also showed some examples of its versatility. The technique allows for painting enamel to be used to create backgrounds for other enamelling techniques or to create a piece in its entirety.

Equipment used :-

• 7cm x 10cm steel pre-coated with a white enamel base WG 12059 suitable for painting enamels supplied by W G Ball Ltd

• Sunshine Onglaze Painting Colours – in powder form. (Vitrum Signum)
